1105 Redmond Media Group Honored with Two Top Awards from the Western Publications Association

Irvine, CA – May 3, 2007 – Two print publications from 1105 Redmond Media Group recently won Maggie Awards from the Western Publications Association (WPA). Redmond magazine was honored with a Maggie Award for Best Issue, Computers/Software, Training & Program Development/Trade, while the twice-monthly Redmond Developer News magazine won Best New Publication, Trade.

"Many tech publishers are afraid to take chances, to push new ideas, bold designs, and demand strong challenging writing. Fortunately the Redmond Media Group doesn’t have these problems. Our willingness to push the envelope is one reason that Redmond magazine has won a Maggie Award for Best Issue, Computer/Software magazine for the second time in three years," says Doug Barney, Vice President and Editorial Director for 1105 Redmond Media Group.

Redmond Developer News debuted in November 2006. It was the third magazine launched in 25 months from 1105 Redmond Media Group. The news publication gives corporate development managers insight into Microsoft's plans and the latest happenings in the Windows development marketplace.

"Redmond Developer News is in the right place at the right time. There is so much going on in the Microsoft development space that our readers can hardly keep up. We are dedicated to covering new products and technologies, but we're also committed to delivering context. And that is the difference. Whether we provide critical takes on new technologies or offer advice on how to manage them, our mission is to help our readers be more productive," says Michael Desmond, Founding Editor of Redmond Developer News.

Another recent magazine launch by this group, Redmond Channel Partner, was honored with a Jesse H. Neal Business Journalism award in 2006 for Best New Publication as well. "To have two of our most recent launches honored with awards is just an outstanding achievement by a wonderful staff. They have quite a bit to be proud of." notes Henry Allain, President of 1105 Redmond Media Group.

The WPA has been honoring excellence in print and electronic magazine publishing in the western United States for more than 50 years. The winners were announced during the 56th Annual Maggie Awards Banquet, April 27, 2007 in Los Angeles.
